The redevelopment of the Maelfa Centre is a key regeneration priority for the Council and new plans have been prepared in association with our development partner with the aim of
starting construction work next year.
The new redevelopment plans include:
• a new retail parade consisting of 9 new shop units, which will be owned and managed by
• 100 new residential units, with both houses and apartments for rent and sale.
• new streets, public spaces, pedestrian crossings and parking, including the removal of the
pedestrian footbridge and the filling in of 2 subways.
• a new Community ‘hub’ formed by a 600m2 extension to the Powerhouse building,
including new accommodation for Llanedeyrn library and police station.
Proposals to refurbish the tower block in the Maelfa are currently being considered and draft plans will be discussed with tenants in the future.
